Clavis Aurea Reserva, red
Review of the 2012 vintage
- Wine Advocate #222 December ed.
The 2012 Clavis Aurea Reserva is a field blend aged for nine months in a mixture of new French and American barriques. The lushest of the winery's submissions this issue, this also has the best structure and a bit more oak impact, although still nicely controlled. Initially unimpressive due to its creamy beginning, this developed beautifully with aeration, absorbing some oak and showing moderate tannins around the edges for support. It became rather seductive. Overall, it tastes great and shows some grip on the finish. The flavors linger nicely. Drink: 2015-2024.
